XXIV: Christmas

We celebrate Christmas on the 24th in Sweden but since many of my readers are from America I chose to publish this post a day after. How was your Christmas celebration? Did you enjoy having a post published here every day? It’s been a bit more than a year since I started this website to share my journey towards becoming an author. Since then I have published nearly 190 posts, of which 100 are poems, and I have accumulated over 2 600 subscribers. I cannot thank you enough, my loyal readers, and properly express how much it means for me that you come and visit my website every now and again and take your time to read and comment on my work. I will do everything in my might to be published and be seen in the eyes of the public as a revered author. When that day comes I won’t forget those who remained loyal to me when my name meant nothing to anyone. I will start Project 3 in a few weeks. By the time it is finished I am almost certain I will be able to assess my future career a lot better than I am today. Whatever happens – I will always keep writing. My call began as a need to express myself, a need to tell a story, a need to entertain both myself and others. Now it has become so much more. I still want to entertain and tell a compelling story – but I also want to change people with my writing, make them feel alive again, make them feel truly happy to be alive – living in the here and now – make them feel as if they were children once more, looking out onto a new world with keening curiosity. I hope those wishes will one day come true.

Overall it’s been a hectic Christmas for me, both in real life and on this site where I wrote a post per day, and I need a short break to get back some of my energy and regain some inspiration. But don’t despair – I will be back around New Year’s!

Christmas

XXIV

Towns shattered the night

with daggers of light

cast from unrequited wishes.

White fell

 – but no snow –

My palm is open

gathering tears from the Moon.

Thank you, my dear reader, for coming here. It means the world to me.

  1. Hey! I celebrate Christmas on the 24th as well! Anyway, merry Christmas (although it’s kind of over, now). BTW, I loved that poem, it really stirred emotion within me 🙂

    1. I guess it’s time to say Happy New year (almost!). Glad you liked the poem 😀 Was about to skip it since I did not have a clear idea in my head as to what it meant – but I’m glad I kept it 🙂

  2. I enjoy your blog for many reasons, Fredrik. I wasn’t able to get to all of your posts, unfortunately. I find it hard to keep up with bloggers who post more than once a week since I follow close to 300 blogs. But I count your blog in my top 20 of blogs that I comment on regularly. Looking forward to seeing you soar in 2013. 🙂

    1. I know what you mean – I barely have time to follow the few blogs I do. Every time I think I can spend an hour reading posts something comes up and I end up with no time to either write or read. But I’m glad to have you here and I hope you never disappear 😀 Looking forward to reading more of your work in the coming year!
